Rosacea causes redness in the central face and nose and is often associated with acne-like bumps.  There are several different types of rosacea.  The most common types involve facial redness, facial redness with pimples and pus-filled bumps, and rhinophymatous rosacea, the latter of which involves enlargement of the nose.  Some people only have the redness of rosacea and lack pimples.  Sun damage plays a big part in the development of rosacea and although antibiotics are often used to decrease inflammation associated with this skin condition, rosacea is not thought to represent any type of infection.
