Dr. Mark Hutchin
Dr. Mark Hutchin graduated cum laude from the University of California at Los Angeles. As a senior at UCLA, he was team captain of the lacrosse team and was selected Most Valuable Player. He then attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine, where he was a Distinguished Medical Scholar and received numerous other awards and distinctions, including the Deborah C. Leary Award and induction into the Junior Alpha Omega Alpha society. He graduated with Honors, Highest Honors, and Distinction from the UNC School of Medicine. After completing a surgical internship and one year of residency in Head and Neck Surgery, Dr. Hutchin shifted his career focus to emphasize dermatology and skin disease. Skin cancer became the focus of a several year scientific endeavor at the University of Michigan, culminating in 2005 with the publication of an important paper on basal cell carcinoma, the most common form of skin cancer. As Chief Resident at the University of Michigan, Dr. Hutchin received many awards, including the Medical Student Teaching Award. He is a board-certified dermatologist. In December of 2021 he was included in “North Carolina’s Top Doctors,” the physicians cited were selected by their peers with a goal of saluting the state’s leading medical practitioners. As a resident of Asheville, he enjoys biking, gardening, and spending time with his wife. Dr. Hutchin and his family, including his dog, a Newfoundland, have lived in Asheville since 2007.

Dr. L. Evan Michael
Dr. Michael earned his undergraduate degree at Grinnell College in Grinnell, IA, and attended medical school and graduate school at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where he received his MD with Distinction in Research and his Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Biology. In medical school, he was awarded the Dean’s Commendation for excellence in clinical skills and the art of medicine and the Department of Dermatology’s Arthur C. Curtis award for excellency in Dermatology basic science, and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor medical society. He performed his internship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in Manhattan, New York, and completed his Dermatology residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Michael then returned to New York, where he completed his fellowship in Dermatopathology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and Weill Cornell Medical College of Cornell University.
Prior to moving to Asheville, he was in practice as a dermatologist and dermatopathologist in the Atlanta area. In his free time, he enjoys mountain biking, road and gravel cycling, and traveling and experiencing theater with his wife and stepdaughter. He has two cats, two dogs, a handful of chickens, and lots of interests outside his professional career.
